Default errors in publishing site

I'm VERY ignorant of web site stuff, but I am the web master for my company and
have to date had no problems using v8 software to make and publish changes to
our site...

But recently I went to publish some changes, and I got 7 error messages, most
of them seemingly unrelated to any of the edits I had made. Most of the
changes DID publish, but the errors knocked out a couple of photos and files in
the site. The messages were just "could not publish..." but with no helpful
information beyond that. The included a couple of photos which had previously
been fine (and were totally different in location, etc.), a word document, a
pdf file, and also a style.css and a site.css file. I've tried everything I
can think of but can't find anything wrong. I've also inadvertently overwritten
my 4 backups so I can't just go back even if I could figure out how. I don't
know enough to do any kind of reasonable troubleshooting.

I thought perhaps the problem was on the server which hosts the site
(www.myfbo.com) but the help desk people there seem to think everything on
their end is fine.

I'm desperate and have no idea where to turn. If anyone has any ideas what I
can do to figure this out and fix it, I'd *really* appreciate it. Please just
keep in mind that I'm VERY ignorant of most computer and web issues, so keep
the lingo at a fifth grade level! Or in this case, a middle-aged level, for
someone who grew up just before the computer era really hit...

The ONLY thing that I know of which changed between my last successful publish
a few weeks ago and the first failed one this past weekend is that our computer
was physically moved into a new building. I doubt if that had anything to do
with it, especially since some of the changes are publishing, but I wanted to
mention it just in case.

I hope someone out there has some clue what's going on! Thanks.

Sue

Sue,

Try going into the advanced publish options (after you click the publish
button) and "toggle" the Passive setting (if it is unchecked - check it, or
vice-versa).

Your new location may have a firewall between you and the server that
requires this to be in place before a publish will succeed.

Does that help?

Charles

I'll let you know as soon as I try. I don't think I ever even noticed a choice
for "advanced" settings, but I'll take a look. Thanks!
