Default Transparent rectangle

Does anyone know how to create a transparent rectangle? I can create a
rectangle from the shape tools but i don't see how to get rid of the fill
color.

I typically use a clearpixel.gif. NOF uses them often as spacer gifs so you
should already have one in your assets folder. Then on the image properties
box, 2nd tab, size the image to whatever you need or drag the image handles
to fill the required space.
