| Call for Participation OOP 2009: The Essence of Modern Software Technology Including topics: Architecture, SOA, Management and Metrics, Agility, Requirements Engineering, Product Lines, Embedded, Eclipse, Testing, Soft Skills etc. January 26 -30, 2009 in Munich, Germany (ICM, Neue Messe Munich) http://www.oopconference.com/ In the week of Jan. 26-30, 2009, internationally renowned software experts speak at a major software technology conference ("OOP") that is held in Munich, Germany. The conference includes ca. 100 technical presentations and tutorials on modern software development topics including e.g. requirements engineering, architecture, product lines, model-driven development, UML, project management, management and metrics, Eclipse, service-oriented architectures, multi-site development, security, agile processes, and the realization of these technologies e.g. in automation, automobile, medical, banking, insurance, and telecommunications domains. A special focus is made on "soft skills" such as communication, teamwork, etc as these are often the cause of failed projects. The conference is aimed at software architects, software project leaders, software developers, quality assurance persons, and consultants. The conference sessions include also case studies of the application of these techniques at well-known companies including Allianz, Bundesagentur für Arbeit, DLR, Deutsche Post, Dräger Medical, eXXcellent, Fiducia, hello2morrow, Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Bayerns, Kaufland, Kühne & Nagel, Lockheed Martin Corp., PostFinance Schweiz, Robert Bosch, VSA ApothekenSystem. Ca. 70 companies are represented in the accompanying exhibition (including IBM and Microsoft). The OOP attracts yearly ca. 1000 conference attendees and is a highly respected technical software conference, especially due to the high quality and practical expertise of the speakers. About 25% of the presentations are in English (usually 2 of the 8 parallel sessions are in English). The english version is available at: http://www.sigs.de/kongresse/oop_200...Program_en.pdf Internationally renowned speakers include: - Tom DeMarco, a world-renowned thought leader on “people” topics, will hold a keynote on Wednesday as well as a joint session with Peter Hruschka. - Frank Buschmann, Christa Schwanninger, Michael Stal, Kai Tödter, and Peter Zimmerer of Siemens on architecture, Eclipse, and testing topics. - Linda Rising, well-known in the agile and patterns area, holds a keynote on Tuesday and a full-day tutorial on Monday. - Sam Adams of IBM with a keynote on "The future of OOP in a Manycore World" and a presentation on End-User Programming - Horst Zuse (son of Konrad Zuse, the inventor of the computer) will give a keynote on the history of the computer. - Gunter Dueck of IBM, will kick off the “soft skills” track with a session on “how do I convince my management?”. - Walter Tichy on the topic of the challenges of of multicore systems - Alan M. Davis, leading expert on requirements engineering, will hold a full-day tutorial on “Just enough requirements management” and also address the topic “what a software engineer should know about startups”. - Roman Pichler, well-known agile and lean expert will hold a full-day tutorial and session. - Peter Kriens, the technical lead of OSGI will hold a session on converting large applications to OSGI. These are just a few of the key speakers, other key speakers include: Paul Allen, Adam Bien, Dan Cocks, Jim Coplien, Jutta Eckstein, Peter Eeles, Nicolai Josuttis, Kevlin Henney, Kim Lauenroth, Hans-Joachim Popp, Gernot Starke, Markus Völter, Ralf Westphal, Eberhard Wolff, and Andreas Zeller. There are tracks e.g. on the topic of SOA&BPM (Track Chair Nicolai Josuttis), Agile Enterprise (Track Chair Roman Pichler), Management and Metrics (Track Chair Thorsten Janning), and Soft Skills (Track Chair Matthias Bohlen), Architecture, Requirements and Modelling, Testing, Security, Usability, and OSGI.
