Of course you can be quoted out of context, that's not the
issue. It's the _always_ in Gerry's sentence above that makes
his statement false -- there trivially exists statement pairs
where the meaning of each individual statement is unaffected
by the other statement (as Gerry unwillingly 'admitted' in
a later post).

The "always" in "context always affects meaning" needs to be taken in
context ;-)

A: "I left my front door unlocked and my house was burgled."

B: "You should always double-check that the door is locked when leaving
the house."

A: "So if there's a bomb in the house set to go off in one second I
should double-check the door lock? What an idiot you are, B!"
