Strange to see those stats - they're just the opposite of what I
would've thought. (I was using a degree of dissimulation when I
suggested this as the reason.)

Yes, I was a little surprised at the trend. I'm not sure what it
means, though.

All of these:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=DSP&c...ate=all&sort=0
http://www.google.com/trends?q=neura...ate=all&sort=0
http://www.google.com/trends?q=audio...ate=all&sort=0
http://www.google.com/trends?q=Dolby...ate=all&sort=0
http://www.google.com/trends?q=image...ate=all&sort=0
http://www.google.com/trends?q=Texas...ate=all&sort=0

have an ever-downward trend.

Ciao,

Peter K.

Even this:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=searc...ate=all&sort=0

is downwared, though this:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=googl...ate=all&sort=0

is not.

There's no label on the vertical axis to let you know what's really
being computed. If it's a percentage of all searches, everywhere,
then I'm not surprised that technical topics are becoming a smaller
fraction of total web searches.

If it's an absolute count, though, then I'm sure what to make of that.

Of the technical topics I tried I only found one search phrase,
"broadband wireless", that didn't have a declining trend. We'll have
to sort out how to get that on our website...

Could it be that:
As participants have aged, they have lacked the discipline to separate
the 'good old days' ramblings generated as asides to actual technical
discussions into separate threads with appropriate names so that those
seeking early tube nomenclature and other equally relevant topics can
properly \s\e\a\r\c\h\ \f\o\r /d/e/l/e/t/e deal with them?

When I post a new message, I have to wait 30 minutes to see it. This
reduce rate of activity. But, perhaps, it is necessary for the webmaster
to make a delay. But, it's just too slow!! And, slow is not good today. Is
anyone response?

First, you are posting from an IP address in China. Who
knows what kind of filtering that government imposes? It
could be hours or days before your own post is released to
USENET. Second, this is USENET. Messages propagate from
server to server on whatever schedule the server decides.
Third, this is USENET. Nobody is obligated to even read
your posts, let along respond to them. I suggest you learn
some manners, or expect to see this response quite often:

Good point, and one I hadn't considered. Personally, though, I find 30
minutes not too bad. And in practice I find that many usenet messages
propagate faster - on the order of 5 to 10 minutes.

Even with email or a web-based forum, you can't expect people to
immediately be available to respond to your question. In fact that is
one of my pet-peeves about IRC - you ask a question and it can take 15
minutes for someone to respond.

This is an unmoderated group. The delay you experience arises with your
ISP's procedures and the speed of propagation throughout the web of news
hubs.

John,

What did you see that I missed? I saw nothing abrasive in Luckman's
message, and no allowance for language difference needed.
