We've also got some really nice 22" wide screen units for just $425.00 (CDN). Let's see.... UPS Ground to "anywhere" in North America runs about $18.00 CDN. Geez Bass... That's some markup you got there. |

That's some markup you got there. And neither one of you mentions the brand so how do we know this is an apples to apples comparison? |

The price doesn't vary all that much between the manufacturers (a few dollars here and there), and I'm sure Bass isn't charging all that much for mark-up. It's his $480.00 "handling fee" that's the killer. Mind you, I'm not set up to do "online" sales, but there's more than one way to "fillet a bass" or "skin a cat" if you're interested. Heck, I should really consider expanding into "online sales". Apparently you don't need an "800 line" or email contacts. All you've gotta do is flood Usenet with "FS", "INFO", and "PR" posts, answer a few questions (in an extremely "helpful" manner") and voila! :-) |

There is no such thing as a high definition 18" CCTV monitor for $305, especially using low value Canadian money. Considering the weight, he's also lying about UPS charges. -- Regards, Robert L Bass =============================> Bass Home Electronics 941-925-8650 4883 Fallcrest Circle Sarasota · Florida · 34233 http://www.bassburglaralarms.com =============================> |

That appears to be correct as Acer doesn't show any 19" HD Monitors on their Canadian website. |

We've also got > some really nice 22" wide screen units for just $425.00 (CDN). It would be nice to have some details on the features. Perhaps the pixels are all sharpened by hand and thus command a premium. (-: The bottom line is that there's no need to go to Canada for "them units" when Newegg and dozens of other merchants have deals like this: Westinghouse L2410NM Glossy Black 24" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 500 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail Exclusive offer, while supplies last Original Price: $499.99 You Save: $50.00 $449.99 ($399.99 after $50.00 Mail-In Rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824255001 The big LCD glut is here. Over a dozen new LCD plants have opened recently and the fierce competition will be driving down prices relentlessly. Those holding old inventory are really going to take an ass-whupping. Most consumers will end up with some great deals in the coming year unless something like the lure of free shipping and a small markdown overcome their senses. So why not have two 24" units for almost the same price as one 19" and less pungence from blatant commercialism in CHA? I just ordered one and I'll report back on it in a few days. The reviews (for whatever they're worth) look quite good. I've come to trust reviewers at the Newegg site (as opposed to Smarthome, for example) because bad products get mercilessly reviewed and Newegg usually drops the product line as a result: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...4255001&SortFi eld=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&SelectedRating=-1&Page=2 -- Bobby G. |

The glut has been here for some time, especially in the smaller sizes. I bought a Viewsonic QB19wb about a year ago from buy.com for less than $200. It has performed flawlessly. |
