Paste special - BROKEN in WinPmail v 4.41: Text only, without styles and picures, NOT wordwrapped
So... is this a known bug, then, that the [Paste Special/... NOT
wordwrapped] editor option is broken in v4.41?
It was just pointed out to me today by a colleague that all of my long URLs
now get split up onto multiple lines which they never used to do. Sure
enough, I just did my own testing and even though I always use the [Paste
Special/... NOT wordrapped] for long URLs, Pegasus is now in fact chopping
up the line. For example, I pasted this URL into a test e-mail to myself:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp....gasus-mail.ms-
windows/browse_thread/thread/59aad0dccbb851aa/30fa6dd662e1b476?lnk=gst&q=Pr
oblems+with+always+wrap&rnum=1#30fa6dd662e1b476
Before I sent the message, it of course was all on one line.
The resulting e-mail message, copied out of the Raw View editor
shows the URL had CRLF characters added after the "mail.ms-"
and after the "with+a".

Yes, this is a known bug. At least, known to many users. I don't know
if David Harris is aware of it.
A workaround is to create a new identity with a very wide line length.

Another workaround would be to use tinyurl.com to make it shorter.

This is probably in a faq somewhere...
Although I hate Outlook it does have one nice feature, it seems to
parse together urls even if they are split by the sender. Can I make
Pegasus do the same (i.e. urls that clearly split get automagically
onelined even if I'm not reading mails at HTML)? I use rather long
lines to avoid doing that myself but I get these huge urls far too
often and my friends sure aren't tinyurl literate.

Pegasus does have an option to handle these in the reader - highlight all
the lines that make up the one URL, right click, and choose "Open selection
as hyperlink". It'll treat it all as one line and open it.

Thanks. Sheesh, I should try to be logical when things in Pmail don't
work they way I expect them to
. Although this was a bit obscure.
Rejoining this group really improves my Pmail "experience" [
].

Not true, if I do it's all on a long single line.

What encoding (see "Content-Transfer-Encoding" in the headers? If
quoted-printabe is used it *must* break lines a 76 + CRLF, but it does so
with "soft breaks" consisting of an equal sign followed by a CRLF which get
removed on decoding by every RFC-conformant mailer before displaying (in
"cooked mode", of course). And don't forget do disable any form of line
wrapping in Pegasus Mail's reader window (context menu) for effectively
displaying long lines ...

I also could verify the problem on a fresh test install of Pmail 4.41
(W2K and W98), and for me it's a clear "no go" for Pmail 4.41.

I looked at the CNM file. There are CR/LF between the lines.

Me, too, and also for most if not everyone else. It is definintely a
bug. I still haven't heard if it's been acknowledged or been slated to
be fixed in the next revision.

Turn off "Disable all text styling ..." and "Always paste plain text ..."on
"Tools | Options | Message formatting" ...
