2 users using same mailbox in p2p LAN from different machines?
Until recently we had one user checking mails for the SOHO so I had done
one local install of Pegasus 4.x one the "server". Now that we also use the
office next door it would be nice to be able to have someone sitting over
there at another computer also be able to read/write mails with the one
company address.
What's the best way to set this up? I mean, it might be possible the two of
them were working on mails at the same time, couldn't that cause
incosistensies? TIA!

Re: 2 users using same mailbox in p2p LAN from different machines?
It would cause inconsistencies. Pmail sets a flag when it opens a
mailbox and clears the flag when it closes the mailbox. There are two
possible reasons why that flag might already be set when you open a
mailbox: either Pmail crashed and left the flag set, or another user
has the mailbox open.
If the flag is already set when I open Pmail, I get a dialog box that
warns that one of these two things might be happening, and gives two
buttons to quit or continue. I am fairly certain that if I continue
while another user has the mailbox open, the mailbox will be
corrupted.
In my case I always know which event happened, because although there
are two computers that can access the same mailbox, I'm the only
person who uses them. But if two different people access the same
mailbox, mistakes could happen.
But it is always possible to set up Pmail for multiple users with
different mailboxes. They could cooperate by sending mail to each
other. If one user has the official mailbox for the office and
receives all incoming mail, that user could even configure the mail
filtering rules to forward every message to the other user, so both
could see the incoming messages. And both could be configured to show
the same sender address for outgoing mail.
Just don't configure BOTH users to forward mail to each other, because
they would never stop making copies.
