| Somewhere in my history I copied the XYZ.PMM and XYZ.PMI files from my work PC to a CD. The Pegasus folder these files represented has long since been deleted by me using the folder delete function of Pegasus. How can I make this folder again accessable to Pegasus?. I thought it might be as simple as copying thoses 2 files back to my Pegasus folder, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. I would appreciate some advice on this. Thanks much in advance. |

Probably a bad idea. I'm not sure this will work. I think Pegasus requires r/w access to files and mailboxes. Preferable would be to create a scratch directory on your HD. Copy the CD files to that directory, set the protections on the files to r/w. In Pegasus add mailbox to list specifiying the scratch directory. That shoudl get you safe access to the mail. > > > >> I would appreciate some advice on this. Thanks much in advance. > >Please post only once. -- Bob Doherty |

Probably not. 1 Trust David Harris to come up with a random sequencer that does not repeat it self that easily. 2 It depends on the folder name, XYZ.PMM and XYZ.PMI, so that windows explorer will complain when overwriting an existing file. >>or >> >>do menu > folders > 'add mailbox to list...' to add the CD mail >>windows- folder and copy the content of the old pm-folder on the CD to >>a new one in your default mailbox. > > I'm not sure this will work. Ample time to create your good advice for a scratch directory when needed. > Copy the CD files to that directory, set the > protections on the files to r/w. If the .PMM and .PMI files have been renamed in Windows Explorer, then it is quite possible to have the identical internal identifiers if they are then recopied back into the Pegasus Mail setup that they originated from. Pegasus Mail will become confused as it uses these unique internal identifiers for filters, attached Identities, etc. The result can be mail folders that don't appear or become corrupt. > >>>or >>> >>>do menu > folders > 'add mailbox to list...' to add the CD mail >>>windows- folder and copy the content of the old pm-folder on the CD to >>>a new one in your default mailbox. >> >> I'm not sure this will work. Why would those "internal identifiers" exist in pm? I doubt that. Only during a pm session perhaps. And you woule only copy them with pm down, surely? -- Evertjan. The Netherlands. Well, because they do.<G> Right click on any mail folder within Pegasus Mail and you will see the Unique ID: It is used by Pegasus Mail for it's housekeeping, rules and other things. Regardless of renaming the folder within Pegasus Mail or renaming the files associated with it with Pegasus Mail closed, this Unique ID remains. -- John Gray If you don't have a reason, at least have an excuse. |
