How to remove a partly uninstalled plug-in?

This is a discussion on How to remove a partly uninstalled plug-in? within the Pegasus forums in Other Technologies category; Hi, I’m using Pegasus 4.41 on a Windows XP system and for quite a while now I’m getting this error message: Pegasus Mail has encountered an operating system error while attempting to load the extension ‘Edit AutoList’. The error code returned by Windows was: 'The specific module could not be found.' I don’t recall exactly when this error first occurred, but I guess it happened when I moved my Pegasus installation to a new system. Most probably it is caused by a plug-in I didn’t install on the new system (a PGP plug-in most probably). Well. This error message is ...

Default How to remove a partly uninstalled plug-in?

Hi,
I’m using Pegasus 4.41 on a Windows XP system and for quite a while now
I’m getting this error message:

Pegasus Mail has encountered an operating system error while attempting
to load the extension ‘Edit AutoList’. The error code returned by
Windows was: 'The specific module could not be found.'

I don’t recall exactly when this error first occurred, but I guess it
happened when I moved my Pegasus installation to a new system. Most
probably it is caused by a plug-in I didn’t install on the new system (a
PGP plug-in most probably).

Well. This error message is bit annoying and since I moved to a new
system recently I finally would like to get rid of this error message.

Any idea how I might stop Pegasus from trying to load 'Edit AutoList'
extension?

Search for files in your mailbox directory with an extension of ".fxx" where
"xx" depends on the language of the extension you used ("ff" for the English
version, "de" for the German one and so on (others are "fr" or "it").

If you're not sure whether to keep or delete such a file (keep a backup
anyway) you may open them in a simple plain text editor such as "Notepad"
and look at the line starting with "Form DLL = ": If the referenced file
doesn't exist on your system you can delete its respective "Form Fact File".

I removed the file AutoPush.fff and the message is gone.

I discovered a second file PGPView.fff. This seams to be part of the
same plug-in that I used years ago, so I guess it’s a good idea to
remove this on too.

Thanks for helping me to remove your own plug-in.

I didn’t use PGP much in resent years but since feel the need for PGP
integration again I’ll look at PM-PGP.

Yes.

That's my impression anyway: Althought goverments all over the world are
passing laws for eavesdropping on *all* Internet traffic and companies are
gathering as much data as they can the (non-commercial) use of PGP/GPG
appears to be in decline. Really weird ...

Indeed. In my case I used it regularly when I was involved in software
testing and studied math and physics. My colleges and friends knew and
used PGP and so did I. Things change when I started to study
architecture and became an architect. In this field literally nobody
knows anything about encryption and cryptography in general or is
concerned about privacy - and I was not able to change this, yet. :-)
