| I am now trying to compile alpine 1.10 on suse linux 11.0. The configure keep returning the error that it could not find "Terminfo/termcap" & stops. I included "/usr/share/terminfo" in the path & still get the same error; same with placing "/usr/share". Checked the configure file & cannot determine where alpine is trying to get the terminfo/termcap.... Have run out of ideas. Can get around the problem of the ms exchange problem on my secondary account via webmail; but it is an itch that wants to be scratched. |

Putting it in $PATH will not help. Changing $TERMINFO environment variable may help. -- Thomas E. Dickey <dickey@invisible-island.net> http://invisible-island.net ftp://invisible-island.net |

For me the error was NOT caused by a missing termcap file. /etc/termcap exists and so /usr/share/terminfo/ it looks like configure wants a *library* termcap but libtermcap.a libtermcap.so on suse 9.2 exist in /usr/lib/termcap not in /usr/lib ... which is apparently where configure is looking I created a soft-link cd /usr/lib ln -s libtermcap.so.2 libtermcap.so and configure worked (your version number might be different) But I thought alpine WAS included in suse 11 (so a colleague said to me) -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nospam@mi.iasf.cnr.it is a newsreading account used by more persons to avoid unwanted spam. Thanks! I had tried using a "LIBPATH" for the environment & that didn't work; looks like some software look for libs differently. My termcap dir is in lib64 (running the 64-bit); found that a soft link to the directory didn't work but a direct link to libtermcap.so in the lib64/termcap/libtermcap.so does work. Yes suse 11 does have alpine 1.10 BUT the default is compiles with the default of kerborus; kerborus is causing my problem in getting mail from the school which is using m$ exchange which probably is kerborus enabled. PC-alpine works without the kerborus problem; which means it probably was compiled without kerborus. I was getting a "run kinit against...." which is the school webmail website; of course, I could have set my school profile to forward mail, which I was about to do before your response for help. Gratefully thanks again. |
