Alpine 1.10 and url-viewers

This is a discussion on Alpine 1.10 and url-viewers within the Pine forums in Other Technologies category; I store my Alpine configuration on my IMAP server and leave url-viewers undefined. However I have a Unix shell account where I use Lynx, so at the command line I append -url-viewers=/path/to/lynx. I can open and view web pages just fine. The problem is when I quit Lynx it just hangs. I have to break to get my session back and this causes Alpine to quit. I have viewed http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging...c/#url-viewers but this particular issue wasn't addressed. Is this a problem with Alpine or Lynx? FWIW I can launch Lynx from the command line and quit without a problem. I also ...

which launches and closes the browser just fine.

I do that -- and read my mail in a gnome-terminal under linux,
using an ssh command to get to the remote. On my own machine, I have a
default browser (Dillo) set in my preferences.

So can I. When the cursor gets near a URL, I right click, and the
terminal offers a pop-up menu, whose first choice launches Dillo, and
away I go.
