| I'm running Alpine on linux (ubuntu), and the problem described occurs in 1.0, 1.10, and the current snapshot (Revision: 1121). In all cases, the password file is enabled for compile. Basically, after saving my IMAP password, when I start up alpine, I'm no longer prompted for a password, but when I (G)oto another folder on the same server, I get a prompt for the password. Refusing to put it in (by pressing enter) gives me access to the folder, anyway, but the password prompt comes up regularly (and in some cases, in strange situations, probably during a refresh, so I lose keyboard access in the context, because suddenly the password prompt has taken it, unexpectedly). help? patches? suggestions on where it might be in the code? |

A stream includes the name of the server, the method of connection (ssl, tls, unencrypted, etc.), the port. If any of these changes between two configurations, then the stream is different, and so a new connection is created, which will result in a new password being entered. Of course, there may be a bug in Alpine, but we can not know unless you show us data. The basic description you gave is still not enough to determine that there is a bug. -- Eduardo http://staff.washington.edu/chappa/alpine/ |
