Default Zip interface

Is there a way to zip and unzip files from a Rexx (Quercus) program
without buying the command line version of WinZIP?

You might want to look at jZip - http://www.jzip.com/ - which claims to
have a command line interface as well.

Why not use Infozip? It's really cross-platform and OSS.

I have the same suggestion, and also a URL:
http://www.info-zip.org/

Works great with Rexx.

Definitely get the exe version and stay away from the dll version. At one point, on some platforms, there was a Rexx loadable dll version, but I never heard anything good about that version.

Which Rexx interpreter are you using?

I found both jZip and Info-zip. I also happened to discover that
WinZIP now offers a free command-line add-on for the latest Standard
version (11.2), which I already have. Previously, it was only free
with the Pro version. I downloaded it and am experimenting.

Thanks

I have used it both with Object Rexx and Regina.

Seriously, Info-Zip is nothing to be concerned about.

Ok, thanks.

Was this directed at someone else? I don't have any concerns about
Info-Zip. I don't know anything about it. Since I learned that WinZIP
has a free command line interface, and since I already have WinZIP
installed, I thought I would try it first.

You seemed concerned that Info-Zip might work with one interpreter and not another.

Oh. No, I was just curious as to which one you were using because I
need to find a new one. I've been using Quercus and there is no
development or support.

I would expect that if works with any, it would work with all -- just
like any DOS command.

Oh, that was it. Yes, try out ooRexx. The recent builds have been *quite* good. A good time to give ooRexx a try.
