Easy (hopefully) Q about URL and default.aspx

  1. Default Easy (hopefully) Q about URL and default.aspx

Getting fired up on MOSS 2007, but experiencing something odd in the URL's.

Let's assume my website is http://mywebsite.com. My first webpage is
located at http://mywebsite.com/Pages/default.aspx per the defaults that
    Sharepoint set up for me.

When I load my site in my Internet browser, I get a cannot be displayed when
going to http://mywebsite.com - it's not automatically pulling to
    /Pages/default.aspx.

Furthermore, on subsites, it's not pulling the default.aspx either.
    http://mywebsite.com/subsite/ isn't coming up either.

I'm thinking one of three things are wrong:

IIS is not set up correctly to pull the default.aspx from the Directories
    setting (it is)
Sharepoint has some checkbox that I haven't clicked.
The Individual browser has some sort of setting that doesn't like looking
    for default.aspx (Vista, IE 7.0)

I have tested on multiple PC's and some are resolving fine, some aren't.
This is mainly outisde the firewall that I'm having a problem.

One other note - the actual DNS entry of the site is http://mysite2, but the
external DNS entry is http://mysite.blah.blah.com. When I'm on an internal
computer and go to http://mysite.blah.blah.com it resolves directly to
http://mysite2/default.aspx - but not from the outside.

    Could there be something there??

Thanks for any help you can give!!

This might be mainly due to some configuration in your firewall. You need to
    check that out
