sharepoint portal site access not working outside firewall via https (redirects to local naming)
if we try to access our sharepoint site outside of the firewall via
https://wan1.domain.com:446 (port 446).. it will pop up asking for
login info.. you put this info in the box and connect.. it then
redirects to http://pstintranet/pages/default.aspx.. which obviously
wont work if you dont have vpn.. if you do have vpn of course it
does..
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?

What are you AAM settings ?
(If you don't understand this comment look at Central Admin; Operations;
Alternate Access Methods.)
This sugggestion assumes you have a v3 SP product. You don't say which
version or product you have which would naturally help us provide
appropriate answer(s).

That was the ticket.. the AAS settings.. (running 2007 version)...
Actually.. got it working via IE7.. then when i tried on my netfront
browser on my windows mobile 5 pda.. I wasnt prompted for a password
or userid.. simply received an authentication error.. i think it was
401.2.. to fix it.. I checked off basic authentication in the IIS
properties.. then via the pda I was prompted for userid and password,
albeit sending the results in clear text though.
