| In this case, the Index server is still 32 bit where as SQL cluster is a 64-bit. So mean to say that I need to install IFilters both on index and SQl server? | No, sorry I misread your setup. No the iFilter doesn't need to be installed on your SQL server Peter Lawton "KSachit" <KSachit@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1432D17A-36B5-491F-B5BE-12B601670717@microsoft.com... > In this case, the Index server is still 32 bit where as SQL cluster is a > 64-bit. | Hi, Peter, Callahan, All, I have heard this question from our customers regarding our autocad DWG IFilter, so far I assumed there is a difference in whether MOSS or WSS SharePoint is used, still details are not clear to me. Now I have to explain the users to install our IFilter on all servers and view the logs to tell which one is being used. I'd like to read some information from an authoritive source to create an overview on our support site for our visitors and our users. Is there a good text or an overview available of the different situations and indexing options that explains where to install the IFilters? Also I'd like to explain the users which server to install as 32 bit for now. Please feel free to email me at ifilter@cadcompany.nl Kind Regards, Marco van Schagen / CAD & Company / ifilter@cadcompany.nl / www.dwgifilter.com |

| To tell you the truth Marco, I am only really familiar with a few Ifilters, so I don't really have a lot of data concering a lot of different Ifilters or the different situations where they would be installed. Maybe Mike Walsh has something on his web site? -callahan "Marco van Schagen" <marcovanschagen@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1193132381.013749.111180@i38g2000prf.googlegr oups.com... > Hi, Peter, Callahan, All, > I have heard this question from our customers regarding our autocad > DWG IFilter, so far I assumed there is a difference in whether MOSS or > WSS SharePoint is used, still details are not clear to me. > Now I have to explain the users to install our IFilter on all servers > and view the logs to tell which one is being used. > > I'd like to read some information from an authoritive source to create > an overview on our support site for our visitors and our users. | All I have listed on the web site is the CAD Ifilter itself. Certainly the v2 version and probably the v3 version. (Checks: VI.49 in WSS v3 FAQ) Nothing about how to use it (unless there's a blog on it I can't remember adding). Mike Walsh WSS FAQ http://www.wssfaq.com no questions by e-mail please callahan wrote: > To tell you the truth Marco, I am only really familiar with a few Ifilters, > so I don't really have a lot of data concering a lot of different Ifilters > or the different situations where they would be installed. > > Maybe Mike Walsh has something on his web site? > -callahan > "Marco van Schagen" <marcovanschagen@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:1193132381.013749.111180@i38g2000prf.googlegr oups.com... >> Hi, Peter, Callahan, All, >> I have heard this question from our customers regarding our autocad >> DWG IFilter, so far I assumed there is a difference in whether MOSS or >> WSS SharePoint is used, still details are not clear to me. >> Now I have to explain the users to install our IFilter on all servers >> and view the logs to tell which one is being used. >> >> I'd like to read some information from an authoritive source to create >> an overview on our support site for our visitors and our users. | Well, that is the case with us; we cannot predict how the next user will plan to use their IFilter. Still, they like us to come up with answers and figure out why things may go wrong. This is fun and challenging, and by times it is hard if it just does not work. We can surely build a version for DWG IFilter. For the users it is not so very important how it is built, as long as it serves their intended use. From the user standpoint all IFilters are the same. And from an IFilter support standpoint all users are different ![]() I hoped to get an overview somehow. For now I will to continue collect bits and pieces that exlain how it should be done. So if you find anything of value here, please just send it my way; I'll see if I can list the info on our IFilter support. Marco |
