This is a discussion on Re: Installing pdf ifilter on a MOSS large server farm within the Sharepoint forums in Microsoft Tools category; KSachit, the pdf ifilter should only be installed on the sharepoint servers. Here is some information about that: adobe ifilter 6 http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blog...0bc3866&ID=138 (this one refers to trying to get it to index lots of already existing pdfs (note the useful registry keys) http://www.kevincornwell.com/blog/index.php/2007/01/ it was based on this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927675/en-us adobe ifilter 8 http://blogs.msdn.com/ifilter/archiv...moss-2007.aspx Adobe/MS don't have a 64 bit pdf ifilter (but it doesn't matter if you're sharepoint isn't running 64 bit, however...), but you can get the one by FoxIT. I think MS basically gave up doing it themselves and fobbed it off as a "partner ...

| To summarize: I installed pdf IFilter v6.o on the index server. (My index server was 32-bit). Things worked fine!
