Site Template not visible in Create New SharePoint Site page - Sharepoint

One possibility could be that the list of allowed templates has been limited using _Layouts/AreaTemplateSettings.aspx

I have seen the window it produces before, I just couldn't remember

Another problem has creeped up. On one domain it works, on the other
domain it doens't.

If I try to follow the path with _Layouts/AreaTemplateSettings.aspx
pasted on the end, I get this error.

Content type
'0x01010007FF3E057FA8AB4AA42FCB67B453FFC100E214EEE741181F4E9F7ACC43278EE811'
not found in web 'http://projects/sitecollection

Any idea? Even the site collection administrator tried it and got the
same error message. Someone told me I could delete and reconnect the
content database, although that worries me. (granted a backup would
be performed)

Mick, My suggestion is that perhaps the wsp has not been deployed globally.

Go to:
Central Administration > Operations > Solution Management
and see where it has been deployed to.
