Convert License Type

This is a discussion on Convert License Type within the Sharepoint forums in Microsoft Tools category; I am running version 12.0.4518.1016 of sharepoint. This was handed over to me and from what I have read it appears this version is the trial version. I have gone to Central Administration\Operations\Convert License type and added my License. However, I get a failure when trying to convert License type. Is this a known issue? How can I resolve this before my trial period ends?...

Hi DavidJones022,
this is a "bug" in SharePoint..

Go back to the site and look at the license type which now should be the
"correct" type!

The other possibility is that the Enterprise version of MOSS 2007 was
installed as the trial and the key is for the Standard edition.

You can change the key from Standard (normal or trial) to Enterprise but
not from Enterprise to Standard.

I am not sure what you mean Daniel. It is still running the version noted
above.
Mike: Are you saying that I could possibly have to upgrade to Enterprise?

Well, that knocks out that idea. However in reply to your question, if
you have installed the trial version of Enterprise, there are two options.

a) upgrade it to a full Enterprise

b) uninstall; and then install Standard Edition

You can't convert a Enterprise trial to a Standard Ed "real thing".

Try an IISReset..

It looks to me that you have the RTM of MOSS 2007.

Trial for standards and enterprise edition.

What type of account are you using for the Application Pools?

Network Service?

I tried the IISreset and then tried to convert using a standard and
enterprise key. Both of them gave me the same error.

If I did an uninstall and then install how would I recover the data? I am
afraid that doing this may result in data loss and an extreme unavailability
time. We have a lot of files in the document library as of right now.
