| I have a staging MOSS 2007 server and a production MOSS 2007 server. The staging server has a restored backup of a content DB from the production server. The staging server has been updated to SP1 with Infrastructure Update (IU). Can I restore a SQL backup of the content DB from the production server (still running RTM) and restore it over top of the content DB on the SP1 system, then run psconfig? Will psconfig make the DB changes necessary for SP1/IU and allow me to use the content database? |

| Hi JD, You won't need to use psconfig for that. Using SQL Managementg Studio, just do a backup of the content database on the Production server, restore it to the Staging server (with the same name), then from Central Administration, Application Management, Content Databases (under Sharepoint Web Application Management), add the Content Database to the web application. Please let us know how this goes! "JD" <yazoo@newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:uLPHqFUDJHA.3352@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >I have a staging MOSS 2007 server and a production MOSS 2007 server. | The database already exists on the staging server, so I would be overwriting an existing content database. So I won't be able to add it again in Central Admin because it's already there. I know I can do that, but what is going to update the database to the SP1 version of the tables from the RTM version of the tables? I thought psconfig was required to do that. | Not psconfig! You will need to do two things: 1. use stsadm -o preparetomove -ContentDB xxxxxxxxxx to repapre to add the content database to the web application. This will update the database tables to the SP1 format. 2. Central Administration (MOSS with SP1) --> Application amanagement --> Content databases --> add content databse. Please let us know how it goes.
