Where can I find software with functionalities like WinRunner
We want to automate our Tests, at the moment we are testing WinRunner
which is comfortable but very expensive. Does some know which software
is equivalent? I would prefer open source if it is possible.
I have looked the Information specifications of the following tools:
TestQuest
http://www.testquest.com/products_ov...=1133990244781
Test Complete
http://www.testquest.com/products_ov...=1133990244781
Mercury WunRunner
http://www.mercury.com/de/products/q...gram_winrunner
Segue Functional & RegressionTesting
http://www.segue.com/products/functi...ting/index.asp
But I don't have the experience to elevate on of these tools, SORRY I
am a rooky in this domain.
Our Meta is to automate an application as Beta tester. So we don't
have the source of this tool. We only have the Dialogs, the end result
(Application) (Like click yes Software =) ). We are able to program C,
Java and VB, but we prefer Java.
System information
Standard PCs Running on Ms Windows 2000 or XP
THX for your help ahead!!!

If your application involves a web browser based application
then you certainly should be looking at the eValid solution.
eValid is a more-modern approach than the traditional
"client-server" technologies you have been looking at. eValid
puts all of the test activity into a 100% IE-compatible
browser, so you are assured of 100% realistic and accurate
results.
eValid is a moderately priced commercially supported product
with a very broad range of capabilities.
You can download an evaluation copy of eValid from:
http://www.soft.com/eValid/Products/...ml?status=FORM
Complete details about the eValid web ****ysis and testing
suite are found at:
http://www.e-Valid.com

Re: Where can I find software with functionalities like WinRunner
Hi Volker,
I just spent a day or so looking into this very question.
I'm writing up the results at
http://kegel.com/wine/testsw.html
but it looks like a good candidate might be
Vermont Hightest Plus, http://www.vtsoft.com/products/HT.html
It's $270 or so.
There's also an open source app called Tester Three which
was published in an MSDN column; it might be a good place to
start if you are tempted to roll your own. It's at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is.../03/Bugslayer/
There are some FAQs which list testing software, e.g.
http://www.testingfaqs.org/t-gui.html
And
http://www.qaforums.com/
might have some useful info.
Good luck, and let us know what you end up using!

Hm, I think if there were a test tool with a functionality like
WinRunner but half the price, then this would be the market leader and
we all would know this company and tool.
Compuware (QArun) and Rational (now IBM Rational Robot) have similar but
more limited tools. Don't know nothing about pricing.
