Default Test Freeware

Which test and qualty asurance tools you use? Someone told us about
TechExcel, but I do not know too much about the product or if is
freeware.

Our team is looking for simple freeware product. We are small team and
want everyone to enter test case when they develop something. We use
spread sheet now (excel) but we have too many different format, typos
adn things like that. We are converting everything to new excel sheet
but we probably will migrate everything to new product. What is best
freeware for this? There is so many when search google . We don't need
complex feature, just enter steps and pass fail and who run test. But
we also want to share steps between test. Sometimes test has same
steps as other test and right now, we just cut+paste in excel.

Any help please.

You might look into Fit (Framework for Integrated Test)
http://fit.c2.com/
or Fitnesse.
http://fitnesse.org/

These are meant when you have a lot of relatively simple tests or
steps. Specify test cases, write interfaces, then run.

I don't think either have easy means to "share steps between test".
