| Hi, I am able to execute ESHELL on device (UIQ Phone). But I can press only num= eric keys using phone keypad. Is there any way to enter text on ESHELL? Thanks Munshiai |

| Hi, You can use the PC keyboard to enter text on the emulator's eshell, if that= helps. Not usre if you can use the emulator keypad to enter text in the es= hell. Regards Kozak |

| Hi, For emulator text shell, PC keyboard working fine. But I am using real phon= e (Motorola Z8) and after starting eshell on phone I can enter only numeric= numbers via phone keypad. So is there any way to enter text on phone eshel= l? Thanks Munshiai |

| Perhaps through a wireless keyboard? (if one is supported)? This might be a= better question for the UIQ forums - I can't even work out how to get the = UIQ Emulator keypad to switch to "T9" Regards Hamish Willee Symbian Ltd. |

| Hi, You need a special cable (a debug cable), that you need to connect to the p= hones' USB port. This one needs a USB driver too ! .Anyways, after that you can configure the hyperterminal, invoke eshell and= then use the PC keyboard to type in the aplhabets. This is one way of doing it that I know of.Could be other ways as well. Regards Kozak |

| Configuring hyper terminal for the debug cable is easy: Choose 'New Connection' In the 'Connect To'-dialog, choose the COM port that your cable is connecte= d to in the 'Connect Using' menu. Port settings: 115200 bps, 8 bits, None, 1, None The problem, as previously mentioned, is that you need USB drivers for the = cable and I doubt that they are in the DevKit.. The easy work-arounds I can think of would be using a Bluetooth keyboard or= using your PC as a Bluetooth keyboard, if you can find a HID client for it= .. |
