Hello All, I am working on a ARM based development board. I have a power management dr= iver which implements the basic power frame work (Power controller) and the= Resource Manager. Just wanted to ask that do I need to write any plugin or adaptation layer s= o that User Side code can call this module to go into IDLE or SLEEP mode?= =20 Thanks, ipsgandhi

Hi, In any power model, the user-side has an essential role. It is important th= at applications that need to know about changes to the power state are info= rmed. Just as important, the user-side can request changes to the power sta= te of individual peripherals (indirectly), and the whole device, usually On= , Off and Standby. The kernel side code determines when / if the core goes into the various id= le or sleep modes. Mark Symbian

Hello Mark, Thanks a lot for taking your time out and responding. As you said, user side code can request changes to power state of individua= l peripehral. Now, my question is that How would user side code request tho= se changes? I mean through any plugin or adaptation layer? For example deco= ded sound data goes to sound driver through DevSound Layer. Do I need to wr= ite any such thing? Or, If I have implemented the Power Controller and Resource Manager in my p= ower managment module, that should suffice? Br Inder
