Extrusion test

This is a discussion on Extrusion test within the vrml forums in Programming Languages category; I seem to have a problem with extrusions, and I cannot tell if it is my VRML browser, or my VRML or my lack of understanding of the spec. To save me the hassle of installing different browsers, could some of you please look at my test scene and then send me a snapshot of your browser displaying the scene ? http://www.wonaze.net/extrusionTest.wrl id3 at wonaze.net Thank you, Sam...

i went into issues with extrusion a while back;

check this thread; "extrusion: browser differences ( with
example )"

basically, browsers do the shape differently, get the ends wrong and
twist the cross-section differently, they also texture it differently
and cope with concave sides differently. ( check the spec out, its not
that surprising.)

however; Cortona seemed to me to get it right, only browser i've seen
that does.

Sofar, Cortona does seem to be the only one that gets it right. I want
them to at least get the basics right, before they try and cope with
twists and textures etc, which is why my example is simple. The only
bit that is 'hard' in this test is that the spine is not exactly along
one of the axes.

Anyway, I have put the results on a web page, and will continue to add
others as I get examples of new 'mistakes'.

| I have not been told which browser produced which snapshot.

The 3. one:

looks like it has been produced with FreeWRL (possibly version 1.20.1)

so long
