Not entirely true. Cortona 5 no longer works well with Netscape 4 jvm.
Better expressed
it crashes with even the simplest EAI applets, so the PG's assertion
that Netscape 4 is no
longer supported is true, although the 5 installation has the nerve to
dump the plywood.jar
into the Netscape sub-folders.
However it still works in I.E. 7 with the M$-JVM.

Assuming you have M$-JVM set as default jvm in I.E. 7 and your
classpath is ok:
http://www.sevenemeraldtablets.net/S...SET/index.html

Oops forgot. You have to make http://www.sevenemeraldtablets.net a
trusted site in I.E. or the applet
won't load.

Looking back at your posting, I tried switching I.E. to default instead of
jdk and then accessed your site without the need for setting the trusted
sites. It worked, up to a point, but I did not get the help on how to use
it and gave up. I'll have another go later.
But with the new setting, I find now that my old poser works OK. So,
thanks very much for the suggestion.

I had another go today with the same result. Clicking the Help text
produces a 404 error. Incidentally, clicking your Help text has to be
accurately on the text characters. I suggest that you have the text on a
disk or rectangle so that the precision for clicking is less critical.

That's why you have to make it a Trusted Site in I.E.
It's the only way to make Anchor Nodes work in I.E. these days.
Actually I am a little surprised the applet loaded for you at all
without it being a trusted. It's good you had your Pop-up Blocker
turned off
which I forgot to mention.
I hope to have a version going in standalone InstantPlayer/Avalon
fairly
soon and leave this html browser/plugin nonsense behind.

The "Help" is just for the shared Tarot readings.
I gave the link as evidence Cortona 5.1 works with I.E. java -not so
much to show the world
which is old.
Short story:
You click the small white cylinder and the red cylinder beside it
turns green.
You then click the green cylinder and the cards will load on the faces
of the tablets/
monoliths.

In terms of the applet, it's a multi-user system. You can be joined by
other users
as avatars. Press the button labeled "Ghost" to see your avatar.
"Beamto" - select another user in the right frame and you can travel
to their location.
"Whisper" -select another user in the right frame and you can talk
privately with that user.
"Disconnect" -disconnects from the MU server.

It should work in your Netscape 4.1/Contact as well, although various
versions of Netscape had
their java quirks and it was never tested with 4.1, but it was tested
extensively with 4.8
Will work with Cosmoplayer too, but not as an I.E. plugin -only
Netscape.

I had another go today. Despite making your site trusted it still would
not load the help page in I.E.
I works OK in Netscape 4.8/CosmoPlayer and in Netscape 4.6/BS Contact
(Note: for Netscape 4.1 in previous postings read Netscape 4.6).
Opera/CosmoPlayer can't cope.

Once again thanks for the info. I must now get on with some modelling.
I'm converting my static model to X3Dv (a fairly trivial exercise) and
developing it further. But, while modern browsers do not support midi, I
shall be sticking to the tried and tested VRML97 and Cortona or
CosmoPlayer for my dance animations. Anyway, Flux Player loses odd arms
and legs, and even the head, during its display of the dance.

Default Vivavity

Statements:

"The Media Machines link now announces that it is now Vivavity and
forwards to a website that mentions none of the Flux tools. The Flux
Studio still be downloaded from some place."

"Take Flux: not even arrays, and external sai => sure crash. Take
Vivavity: not even a link to the past technology, they have cleaned-up
as in a big scum."

can be explained as follows:

"Media Machines is now Vivavity, Inc.!" simply means that this domain
was bought off by Vivavity. Flux homepage and download was moved here:
http://mediamachines.wordpress.com/f...d-flux-studio/
Vivavity is not renamed Flux, but is XP/VISTA-era wild fork derivative
of Me/2000-era Flux original proper.

Default Vivavity

I meant that Vivavity Studio (pun intended) is defaced spin-off
derivative of Flux Studio, and Vivavity Player (pun intended) is
defaced spin-off derivative of Flux Player. They are defaced because
part of functions such as VRML/X3D import/export that worked
previously doesn't work fully as worked previously, and there are
remains of Flux name inside these Vivavity programs. Both defaced
Vivavity spin-offs no longer works in Windows Me. But this page:
http://mediamachines.wordpress.com/f...d-flux-studio/ still
provides original Flux software that still works in Windows Me. Both
Windows Me and Windows 2000 and their common Office 2000 are the last
softwares without activation. I will not switch to XP and VISTA with
their evil activation if I can use good old Flux software instead of
their defaced spin-off Vivavity derivatives.
