Well, Square/Enix officially confirmed that there won't be a simulataneous worldwide launch of Final Fantasy XIII at their own news conference. Apparently they also said that they won't even start work on the XBox 360 port until after the Japanse PS3-only version is done, which probably means my Summer 2009 prediciton was overly optimistic. Had FF13 not been announced for the 360 today, you would have used the title as leverage for the PS3 as you always did in the past. Whether you say it or not, you were just as surprised as we all were when FF13 was announced for the 360. Of course, as always, you treat any big news for the 360 as being nothing special. Having roamed this newsgroup for years, I have seen your pathetic behaviour on countless occasions and every time the PS3 is pounced on, you act as if it is nothing. As it is, the 360 has something to counter Blu-Ray with Netflix on the 360 (a lot more convenient than Blu-Ray, especially for HD content... it plays INSTANTLY through streaming and you can share the movie that you are watching with 8 of your friends instantly for simultaneous viewing... can Blu-Ray do that?). It took away PS3's biggest title after MGS4 in Final Fantasy 13, it obtained exclusivity for Rock Band 2 and Portal (two humongous titles) and it out-homed PS3 Home by providing a service that appeals to everyone and is IMMEDIATELY useful unlike the bloated pointlessware that PS3 Home is supposed to be (why would anyone want to move around in a Virtual World exactly?). Not only that but if you are a fan of Singstar, the 360 just humiliated Sony by proving the exact same kind of game that DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO BUY MUSIC because you can use ANY MUSIC YOU WANT FROM YOUR OWN COLLECTION. Of course, I already expect you to take all of this surprising news as being 'nothing surprising.' The truth is, your PS3 is about to die a death similar to HD-DVD. It has NOTHING to put on the table. If people needed just ONE good reason to get a 360 over a PS3 now, they just got a handful. Besides, I didn't even mention that the 360 will now ALLOW YOU TO INSTALL ANY GAME YOU WANT TO THE HARD DRIVE TO REMOVE LOAD TIMES AND DISC-SWAPPING, essentially killing any advantage the Blu-Ray medium had. |

I wouldn't go that far, we don't know what Sony and Nintendo have up their sleeves tomorrow... although I'm sure right now they're going through a patch of shivering and dry heaving having to follow all those major announcements today. - Jordan |

Nothing has changed. ~~~ What *has* changed is that I no longer need a PS3 to play FFXIII. Having that info before I bought my PS3 would've been nice. I guess it's my own fault because I purchased one so early, but I really wanted that Blu-Ray player too... so, oh well. |

Cmon, you got it cuz you wanted > it...jeez... ~~~ Well the BD player was part of the choice, but the FFXIII line of games were the only ones I cared about. I can't honestly think of another "exclusive" PS3 game I even care about. I'll wait and see what Sony announces tomorrow of course before I get annoyed about it, but I seriously doubt anything will change. |

Yes, i'll admit i'm a bit biased.. i'll admit that outright, but can you honestly say that MS brought anything new to the table this year? Minus Gears 2 and the Netflix deal... what else is there? Everything else that even remotely matters is multiplatform. No? And most of the time spent was trying to pump the crowd for excitement for ideas that are either from last gen or last year. Trivia game with special controllers, check! SingStar, check! Eyetoy, check! Mii's, check! Seriously, thos avatars look like the parents of the Mii's. Some sort of mash up between a Mii and a character from HOME. Is Microsoft really serious with this? Can the new dashboard remind me a little bit more of the XMB?? Yeah it probably could, but what was wrong with the old dashboard? Not APPLE-ish enough? Gears 2. That's all they got.. it's the new Halo. And to think he started off by saying they'd outsell PS3. Someone put that on a plaque so we can revisit it later on. Now dont get me wrong, i realize that Sony has been pushing alot of stuff back in the release queue... but MS doesnt have anything TO push back. I didnt buy the original xbox for Halo, and i'm not going to buy a 360 for Gears... Microsoft has yet to win me over, and a keynote like that isnt doing them any favors at all. I'm sure there are the MS fanboys and Anti-Sony brigade that will disagree, but it's still my opinion, and you're more than welcome to have your own. |

If you're into that genre even a little bit, it makes it pretty hard to ignore Microsoft's console. Still, I would've liked to have seen more games instead of just a crappy dashboard revamp, and access to a movie service I don't use. But the MS conference was at least successful enough that I'll continue to support their Evil machine... for a little while longer anyways. It remains to be seen if Sony and the Big N can even do the same for their consumers, but we'll know fairly soon. |

Seriously? I didn't read anything about that. If that's true, that's FUCKING AWESOME. FINALLY. |
