| My Xbox has not been Modded in any way... yet. Basically I've owned it over 5 years and since it will never go on Xbox live I have decided to Mod it so I can get the best possible use out of it. The best softmod I have found so far is the: Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.30 I am currently downloading this to see how it can work. The reason I am posting this is I want to ask a question, I have a MAMEUI32 (v.126u2) database of games (.zip format) along with the associated Artwork and I want to be able to play them on the Xbox. The directions I have been looking at specify that there are MAME packages with the Auto-Installer but I am wondering if I have to download different games or just find a way to get these over there after the Mod is complete. Pretty much have the same question for Atari 2600, Commodore 64/128D as well as Nintendo 8-bit games. If anyone can help me, or if they know where on the Internet I can find Help, please let me know. Thanks, E |

For MAME you will need to get an older copy (same version that the Xbox version is based on) of MAME and use clrmame (http://www.clrmamepro.com) to downgrade the sets. In some cases the roms you have will play just fine but in many cases you will need to do the above. Of course you can also request a specif rom version in alt.binaries.emulators.mame > The directions I have been looking at specify that there are MAME > packages with the Auto-Installer but I am wondering if I have to > download different games or just find a way to get these over there > after the Mod is complete. > Pretty much have the same question for Atari 2600, Commodore 64/128D > as well as Nintendo 8-bit games. > If anyone can help me, or if they know where on the Internet I can > find Help, please let me know. I think there are similar tools for these rom sets or if you can find a dat file clrmame should be bale to build them for you as well, but I haven't used it for that purpose. -- David | Fight Back! <http://improve-usenet.org/> (It is an old Debian tradition to leave at least twice a year ...) -- Sven Rudolph |

| The site you mention for clrmamepro no longer seems valid. I know that the Xbox Auto-Installer comes with several flavors of MAME, I just don't know where to find the ROMS. That and whether the Artwork is transferrable. All the artwork and such in my machine is about 20gb, I think there is only an 8gb drive in the Xbox. Oh well, I just might have to make due. Artwork should work fine as long as the rom name has not changed. -- David |
