This is a discussion on buying microsoft points on xbox within the xbox forums in Other Technologies category; My kid wants to buy some microsoft points using his xbox 360 elite so that he can later use them to buy games. He has previously bought these points by going to Blockbuster and paying cash, but he only needs a small number of points and he can't find the correct amount for sale at Blockbuster. As the guy who stands to have his identity stolen, I am not keen on giving out my credit card details on the xbox because I have no idea what sort of security systems are in place to stop people from stealing the information. ...

Can anyone please advise me on how the security systems work if one was to buy something with a credit card using the xbox console? Also, are there other places that sell these points, either at an actual store or some other online vendor that I could deal with through my home computer? There are definitely somes sites out there that I would never give my credit card details to, and other online stores that are more trustworthy. Thanks a lot for any advice. |

| You have a greater chance of having it stole at a brick and mortar store. You trust the people at Blockbuster? How about Blockbusters computer system? Your info is already out there from the credit card companies to any other company that you've used your card at. | Hi, while both of them argue over a pointless case, think of how many people use their credit cards, (including myself) to purchase things on xbox live? i have bought many many things of xbox live using my credit card, and I have never had a problem. Plus, you would definently hear something about XBOX LIVE stealing a credit card number and being a fraud. My advice just go ahead with it, as Microsoft is a reliable company for this sort of transaction, but if you still are not satisfied, you can convince your son telling him, "Well if you buy the extra points now, you will have them for whenever you need them in the future, so you dont have to wait to buy them at the store when you find something you want again." ![]() "Luis Ortega" wrote: > My kid wants to buy some microsoft points using his xbox 360 elite so > that he can later use them to buy games. > He has previously bought these points by going to Blockbuster and paying > cash, but he only needs a small number of points and he can't find the > correct amount for sale at Blockbuster. > As the guy who stands to have his identity stolen, I am not keen on > giving out my credit card details on the xbox because I have no idea > what sort of security systems are in place to stop people from stealing > the information. > Can anyone please advise me on how the security systems work if one was > to buy something with a credit card using the xbox console? > Also, are there other places that sell these points, either at an actual > store or some other online vendor that I could deal with through my > home computer? > There are definitely somes sites out there that I would never give my > credit card details to, and other online stores that are more trustworthy. > Thanks a lot for any advice. > > |
