Conceptually yes
ssh -X -l loginame host ...
But yo have to install the X-server on Windows machine (frre using Cgwin)
In any way I do not use GUI at all because I do not need and for my
application they means only
1) problem using both Linux/Windows/Mac terminal
2) a lot of more Job let me say completely un-useful
3) slow performances in remote connection (slow internet)
So I do not want to use GUI as it is just smoke !
Principally my programs manage Spare-Parts and warehouse problem. For
Catalog etc.. exist also separate application via WEB ... there graphics is
important.

I completely agree with you... I actually give VNC access thruh SSH
(login with certificate) tunnel...
Since my code is 100% simple clipper code (DBF+NTX) I easily converted
to linux for a test... it worked great !
The only "problem" is: how to print report/invoices ? I was thinking
about generating a PDF on the server and accesing it via samba or via
firefox... but it'd need a xharbout library or.. something like
ghostscript: I actually have text-only prints, I can save them on an
ascii file and convert via ghostscript... and it can convert PCL too....
How do you solve this problem ?
Francesco

Re: What options for xHarbour Data Protection
With Linux is quite simple
If you using PUTTY terminal emulator you can tell to you program to send
output to a file,
after you send the file to the connected terminal (just a scripts of 3
lines).
In the terminal Putty configuration you can say to send this kind of file to
any printers that your computer can see.... TCP, Laser, Dot, network printer
etc...
Of course the printer cannot be an Host-based (stupid) printer that cannot
print a text file sent to it.
I have an user that work on application installed in Italy from Argentina
and print reports on its printer without problem.
LINUX / Unix computer can also be a Printer server and print on any printer
(not Host Based) that it can reach, also if printer is connected to a
Windows Workstation
